Eco lives or dies on community. If nobody finds your world, the planet will not last long enough to need saving. The server name is the first thing potential players notice in the browser, and Eco lets you season it with colors, bold, and italics so it actually stops the scroll. Below is the short version of how to set the name and how to format it.
That is the entire core process. Everything below is optional polish.
Once the server is back online, the new name shows up wherever players look: the in-game server browser, the recent and favorites list on the main menu, and any search done by exact name. If a friend wants to drop in directly, they can paste the name into the search bar and connect.
Plain text works, but colored names are far easier to spot in a long list of servers.
Wrap your text in `<color=X>` and `</color>` to color it. The first option is to use a named color, like `red` or `blue`.

You can also swap the name for a 6-digit hex code, which gives you precise control. Any standard hex picker online will give you the value to drop in.

Use `<b>` for bold and `<i>` for italics. They stack with each other and with color tags, so a single name can be bold, italic, and colored at the same time. Close every tag you open or the result will look broken.
Hex codes show up as plain text. Two common reasons. First, the `#` is missing before the six digits. Second, the `<` and `>` around the tag itself are missing. Both are required for Eco to read the code as formatting instead of text.
The name did not change in game. Restart the server first. If the old name still sticks around, fully close Eco on your end and reopen it to clear the local cache. The recent tab can also lag behind, so try finding the server directly in the in-game browser by typing the new name.
A hex color picker and the official Eco guides are the two resources worth bookmarking if you plan to keep tweaking your name.
