Your base location in Once Human affects far more than the view. A good spot can shorten resource runs, improve defense, support fishing or water gathering, and make PvP attacks harder to pull off.
The best choice depends on what you value most. PvE players may prefer resource density and convenience, while PvP players often need terrain that slows or exposes raiders. You can also transfer your base later, so the first location does not have to be permanent.

The Dayton Wetlands shoreline is a strong early-game base option because it sits near useful starter resources. Look around the area near the Overlook Town Teleportation Tower.
You can gather essentials such as Copper and Wood nearby, but Salt is the standout resource. Stand in shallow seawater and gather salt water to produce it. The EXP from this action is small, but it provides steady extra progress without constantly hunting Deviants.
For new characters, this shoreline works well as a practical first home: easy materials, water access, and low early pressure.

Players on a PvP-enabled Once Human server may want distance more than convenience. Southwest Chalk Peak provides that by sitting at the far southwestern edge of the map.
The area is isolated and close to the shoreline, making it useful for players who enjoy fishing. It also offers a natural defensive trick: build near or in the center of the river to slow attackers who try to push into your territory.
The nearest fast-travel point is the South Greenlake Teleportation Tower.

Broken Delta Beach is another shoreline option with free access to saltwater. Unlike some early coastal spots, it also has Tin ore nodes, which helps when upgrading gear into the next tiers.
Hearst Mudflats sits nearby and can provide random scraps for disassembly. The area is also useful early for farming Fiber and Beryllium Crystal.
This is a good pick if you want a practical PvE base that supports early progression without forcing long resource trips.

Northwest Blackheart offers a secluded cliff base location at the far northern edge of the region. It is especially appealing on PvP servers because natural rock formations make raids more difficult.
The downside is access. Climbing up takes effort, which can be annoying for you, but it is also annoying for attackers. That is the point. Wood and ore nodes are plentiful nearby, so the location is not only defensive.
Place turrets near the cliff approach to punish anyone trying to scale the mountain mesa. Most raiders will not enjoy doing cardio under gunfire.

Central Red Sands is not the safest PvP choice because attackers can approach from several directions. For PvE players, though, it is valuable because of its resource access.
The region offers strong gathering opportunities, including Copper and Tin ores. A small body of water nearby also lets you collect Dirty Water. Use 4x Dirty Water at a Stove to craft Boiled Water and keep your Meta-Human alive.
If resource gathering and management matter more than raid protection, Central Red Sands is worth considering.
The nearest fast-travel point is the West Highbank Teleportation Tower.

Moving your base is simple. Enter Build Mode by pressing B on keyboard by default, then press Z to open Transfer Bases mode.
You can transfer your base at any time, but each transfer has a 2-minute cooldown. If you move and immediately regret your new address, you will need to wait for that cooldown before relocating again.
