Nightingale Early Access Release Date, Delays, and PC Requirements

Other Games·January 8, 2024·10 min read

Nightingale has had a longer trip to Early Access than many Realmwalkers expected. After multiple delays, Inflexion Games confirmed the survival crafting game’s launch timing and gave players a clearer look at what to expect when the portals finally open.

Nightingale Early Access Date and Delay Timeline

Inflexion Games announced at Gamescom 2023 that Nightingale would enter Early Access on February 22, 2024. The studio later updated that timing in a February 7 announcement, moving Early Access forward to February 20, 2024.

That date followed several earlier launch targets. Nightingale was originally planned as a PC Early Access release in 2022, but Inflexion pushed the release back while development continued. One major reason was the studio’s decision to move Nightingale from Unreal Engine 4 to Unreal Engine 5 in the middle of production. That is not exactly a small weekend project.

The game was then expected in the first half of 2023. In a later developer update, the team moved the launch window again. Inflexion CEO Aaryn Flynn also explained in a video update that the studio wanted to keep progress healthy for the team rather than force the release forward at any cost.

Another delay moved Nightingale from Fall 2023 into 2024. In a release-date statement, Flynn said the studio was committed to quality and wanted the game to meet the expectations of the community that had helped shape development. At the time, Nightingale was confirmed for PC, with any console version still waiting on an official developer announcement.

What Nightingale Is About

Nightingale is a magical open-world survival crafting game built around traveling through the Fae Realms. Players take the role of Realmwalkers searching for the city of Nightingale, a place of safety and hope hidden somewhere beyond the portals.

The main survival loop includes gathering, crafting, exploration, building, and combat. Its setting leans into strange fantasy rather than plain wilderness survival, so expect firearms and melee weapons to sit beside spells, enchanted gear, and eldritch threats.

Key features include:

  • Crafting and schematics: Gather resources, unlock recipes, create gear, and improve equipment with magical properties.
  • Base building: Start with a simple campsite or expand into a larger settlement with friends as more building options unlock.
  • Realm exploration: Travel through portals into different biomes, each with its own rewards, hazards, and very poor respect for personal safety.
  • Combat options: Fight creatures and horrors using melee weapons, guns, and magic.
  • Solo or multiplayer play: Explore alone or coordinate with friends online to handle tougher threats.

Nightingale PC Requirements

According to Nightingale’s Steam page, the listed minimum PC requirements for launch were:

  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit
  • Processor: 3.0 GHz Quad Core
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM
  • Graphics: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 or AMD RX580, or greater
  • Network: Broadband Internet connection
  • Storage: 100 GB available space
  • Additional notes: SSD required

For players planning to jump in on launch day, the big points are the SSD requirement, the 100 GB storage need, and the online connection. Realmwalking is magical, but your hard drive still has to do paperwork.
