Killing Floor 3 Release Window, Crossplay, Features, and Beta Details

Other Games·February 10, 2025·10 min read

Killing Floor 3 brings players back to a blood-soaked future full of genetically engineered undead enemies known as Zeds. The next entry builds on the wave-based co-op shooter formula while adding new enemies, updated systems, and more modern presentation.

What Killing Floor 3 Adds

Killing Floor 3 is expected to feature upgraded visuals, more dynamic environments, and new Zed variants. It also aims to deepen team strategy through a revamped class system.

The game is set years after Killing Floor 2. Players take the role of elite mercenaries fighting a global outbreak tied to Horzine, the rogue biotech corporation at the center of the series. The focus remains frantic combat, brutal weapons, dismemberment mechanics, multiplayer action, and horror-flavored sci-fi atmosphere.

Delay and Release Window

On January 31, Tripwire Interactive released a video introducing the Siren, a new Zed type. That video also announced a March 25, 2025 release date for Killing Floor 3.

A closed beta was then scheduled for February 20 to 24. Player response to that beta was heavily negative, with complaints about UI/UX, performance, gun feel, difficulty, and other parts of the experience.

After that feedback, Tripwire Interactive delayed Killing Floor 3 to an undecided date later in 2025. The studio said it plans to deliver a more polished version when the game is ready, but no more specific release date was provided in the source material.

Platforms and Crossplay

Killing Floor 3 is planned for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X. It will also include cross-play support, allowing friends to play together across supported platforms.

PC players still need hardware capable of running the game properly. The listed PC requirements are:

Gameplay Overview

Like Killing Floor 2, the sequel supports co-op for up to six players. Footage from The 2024 Game Awards trailer showed several notable changes, including a fully integrated mod system that lets players customize how they deal with Zeds.

Enemies also appear more dynamic than before, forcing squads to react quickly and make decisions under pressure. Environmental traps give players another tool for thinning out the horde when the battlefield starts getting crowded.

A separate Gamescom trailer highlighted more features, including:

  • Three new playable Nightfall specialists
  • New Zeds, including the Siren and Impaler
  • Extra movement for returning Zeds, such as Crawlers climbing on ceilings and walls
