Holy Team

Terraria is built for digging, building, boss fights, and the occasional questionable tunnel system. While solo worlds are easy to start, dedicated servers let you play in the same world with friends whenever the server is online.
To join one, you need two pieces of information: the server IP address and its port. Terraria asks for these separately, so copying the full address into one field usually will not work.
Keep both values nearby. Terraria will ask for the IP first, then the port on the next screen.

Terraria should begin connecting to the server. Once it loads, you can play in that world alone or with anyone else who has access.
The server will not connect with the IP
First, confirm the Terraria server is online in your control panel. If it is running, try joining again and make sure the IP address and port are entered separately. Terraria is picky about this, and unfortunately not in a charming way.
A Journey Mode character cannot join
Journey Mode characters can only join Journey Mode worlds. If your server uses a normal world, create a non-Journey character. If you want to use that Journey character, the server world also needs to be Journey Mode.

Terraria servers attract the occasional troublemaker. This guide shows how to ban players from your HolyHosting server on Vanilla, TModLoader, and TShock, including permanent and temporary bans with reasons.
Reach the files on your Terraria server through the built-in web FTP panel or a dedicated client like FileZilla. Compare both routes, learn what each one does well, and find the files that actually matter.
