Icarus Leveling Guide for Fast XP Farming

Other Games·January 7, 2026·11 min read

Leveling in Icarus comes from doing the things a prospector already needs to survive: gathering, crafting, building, hunting, mining, and completing objectives. A smart route through those activities can push you from the first few levels into late-game blueprint farming much faster.

Fast Leveling in Icarus

The route below follows progression from early survival to higher-level XP farming. It focuses on key technology milestones, efficient crafting loops, and combat opportunities that help move levels from 1 to 60 and beyond.

Levels 1 to 10

Start by collecting nearby resources such as wood and fiber. These basic actions provide early XP and give you the materials needed for tools and shelter.

Look for a nearby cave to use as temporary protection from predators such as wolves. If there is no open cave nearby, craft a pickaxe and break into one. Gather berries as well so hunger does not become the first boss fight.

These actions should carry you through the first few levels. After that, XP requirements rise, so begin crafting basic weapons such as throwing knives and javelins. Use them to kill low-level predators for additional XP. Keep collecting Oxite to refill oxygen.

Around level 5, build a simple sealed wooden shelter. Then craft a bow and bone arrows for safer hunting. Continue gathering, hunting, and crafting until you can place workbenches and move toward iron-tier tools.

A dependable food source also helps. The source guide points to flatbread at the Herbalist Bench as one option for buffs and hunger management. Repeating this loop should carry you toward level 10.

Levels 11 to 20

Wooden shelter becomes less reliable as threats and weather become more serious. Begin upgrading your building materials into stone-tier pieces. Building, upgrading, and crafting all generate XP while making your base safer.

Next, focus on cave mining. Search Icarus biomes for iron and copper, since these metals reduce crafting bottlenecks later. Ore nodes replenish after a week of in-game sleep, so mark useful caves and revisit them on a schedule.

As you approach level 20, work toward steel tools. Steel is an important upgrade path, but it requires several technology unlocks. Progressing through those tech nodes provides more opportunities to gain XP.

Level 20 is also a good time to consider firearms. The hunting rifle can handle threats from a distance, while the shotgun is useful at close range against enemies such as charging bears.

Level 21 and Beyond

Icarus currently has a maximum level of 60. Leveling does not stop being useful there, since continued XP farming can still grant more blueprint points. These methods help after level 21.

Hunt Enemies in the Desert

Travel or spawn into the desert and hunt the animals roaming that biome. Ranged weapons such as bows let you fight from safer distances. Hyenas are especially valuable because they give about 4,000 XP per kill. Aim for headshots to finish fights quickly.

Craft Low-Cost Items

Crafting gives XP, but expensive endgame recipes can be inefficient for farming. Instead, craft cheaper items with materials that are easy to collect.

One example is the Oxygen Bladder, unlocked in the Tier 2 technology tree. It requires:

  • 30x Leather
  • 8x Bone
  • 20x Fiber

You do not need to keep every crafted Oxygen Bladder. Destroying extras is fine if the goal is XP rather than storage clutter.

Farm Voyager: Recovery

This method is aimed at veteran players or anyone past level 30. After reaching the end of the mission board, start the Hardcore mission Voyager: Recovery.

Completing this mission grants +33% XP, which makes it strong for fast leveling. The objective is to find a crash zone and inspect a damaged ship.

The crash site contains multiple predators, creating steady combat XP if you can kill them safely with accurate bow shots. The required mission materials are also near the crash site, so there is less travel before finishing the objective.

Running this mission with friends on a multiplayer Icarus server can make the XP farm faster, since several players can handle combat and collection together.
