HumanitZ Keybinds and Controller Support Guide

Other Games·February 21, 2024·14 min read

Surviving HumanitZ starts with knowing which button keeps you alive and which one opens the wrong menu while zeeks chew on your boots. The default setup is built around keyboard and mouse play, while controller support is available with some limits.

HumanitZ Default Controls

HumanitZ currently favors keyboard and mouse controls. New players should spend a little time learning the basics before wandering too far from safety, since movement, aiming, building, and vehicle actions all matter once the undead start crowding in.

Can You Play HumanitZ With a Controller?

The official HumanitZ Steam page lists the game as having Partial Controller Support. A controller can be used, but the in-game Settings menu does not provide a way to remap controller buttons.

That means gamepad users may need to test buttons manually to learn what each one does. Some inputs may not have matching bindings at all. For example, on a PlayStation controller, face buttons such as X, Triangle, Circle, and Square may work, while shoulder buttons may not respond.

Developer Yodubzz Studios has responded to player requests about controller support. A September 30, 2023 roadmap announcement stated that full controller support was planned for 2024. The same roadmap also mentioned other planned features:

  • Vehicle modification
  • Multi-story buildings
  • Hidden island
  • Console support
  • Mod support

No exact release date was given for those features in the source announcement. Until full controller support arrives, players can use third-party tools to map keyboard and mouse commands to a controller. DS4Windows is one example for PS4 and PS5 controllers on Windows 10 and Windows 11.
