How to Transfer Your Dune Awakening Character to Another Server

Dune: Awakening update 1.2.40.0 added character transfers, which means moving to a friend's server or a quieter world no longer requires starting over from sand and regret. Your character, inventory, bank, backed-up bases, and backed-up vehicles can move with you, but only if the transfer is prepared correctly.

This guide explains what to do before transferring and how to complete the process from the server browser.

Before You Transfer Your Character

Character transfers are available between servers, but anything not properly stored can be left behind and permanently lost. Before starting, complete these checks:

• Back up your base with the Base Reconstruction Tool. The BRT can store up to three bases.
• Back up your vehicles with the Vehicle Backup Tool. Some vehicles are too large for the VBT. Disassemble those with a Welding Torch, then place the parts in your bank or base storage.
• Move valuables into your inventory or bank. Your inventory and bank transfer with your character. This includes items listed on the in-game marketplace, so remove anything you want to keep from sale listings first.
• Make sure your character is in Hagga Basin. You cannot begin a character transfer from any other region.

You also need a Transfer Token. Every player starts with one Transfer Token, and completing a transfer consumes it. After seven real-world days, the account receives another Transfer Token.

Dune Awakening Character Transfer Steps

Once bases, vehicles, and items are secured, use the server browser to move your character.

1. Exit to the Main Menu and wait until the character has fully logged out.
2. Open the Servers tab in the upper-left corner. Your Transfer Token appears beside the Server Browser search box.
3. Find the server that currently contains the character you want to move. If the character is on Griffin's Reach, for example, that server should appear near the top with the character level shown.
4. Select the character, then press `Z` to use Transfer Character. Pressing `X` instead deletes the character, so keep an eye on the prompt.
5. Choose the destination server. The browser shows details such as total population, friend count on that server, and ping. You can also filter through official, private, and friends' servers.
6. Review the warning messages about backing up buildings, vehicles, and inventory. If the destination already has a character, the game may ask whether to delete the existing one because only one character can exist on each server.
7. Confirm the character name. The current name appears by default, but this step also lets you rename the character.
8. Complete the transfer.
9. Load into the destination server. Your character starts in Hagga Basin, where you can rebuild bases, restore vehicles, and continue exploring Dune: Awakening.

For players moving a group to a new HolyHosting server, the safest approach is to have everyone finish backups first, then transfer one at a time so nothing important gets stranded.
