Whether you’re playing on a V Rising server or another multiplayer game, there’s always a risk of encountering hackers. To protect against this, many servers are secured with VAC (Valve Anti-Cheat), which detects and bans cheating players. However, in some cases, server owners may want to manually disable VAC on their server — either to allow the use of external game modifications or to let players banned by VAC join. With HolyHosting, adjusting your V Rising server settings is easy through the Customizations tab. This guide will show you how to get started.

What Is Valve Anti-Cheat?

VAC, or Valve Anti-Cheat, is an automated system designed to detect and ban players using cheats on game servers. The system monitors players after they’ve connected to a VAC-secured server. Any third-party modification created to provide an unfair advantage is considered cheating and will result in a ban.

While server administrators can issue bans manually, a VAC ban is fully automated and remains permanently tied to your Steam account.

Additionally, players banned by VAC will not be able to connect to any secured servers in the future.

Why Disable VAC?

There are several reasons you might want to disable VAC on your V Rising server — mainly to avoid bans or allow banned users to join. If you’d like to test cheats or other modifications in a private server environment without getting banned, you’ll need to disable VAC beforehand. Alternatively, making your server unsecured allows previously banned players to join freely.

How to Disable VAC

  1. Go to your HolyHosting server panel and log in.

  2. At the top of the main page, click the Stop button to shut down the server.

  3. From the left-hand menu, open the Customizations tab.

  4. Scroll down and locate the Secure Mode section.

  5. Uncheck the box on the right side.

  6. Return to the main panel page.

  7. Click Start or Restart to power your server back on.

Your V Rising server will now launch with Valve Anti-Cheat disabled!

Note

If you wish to re-enable Valve Anti-Cheat, simply go back to the Customizations tab and recheck the Secure Mode box. Then, restart your server as before.

Conclusion

Now you know how to enable or disable Valve Anti-Cheat on your V Rising server. While this can be useful, remember that you are responsible for managing modifications in your own game. If you disable VAC to test cheats or other tweaks, make sure to remove them completely before joining any other server — especially one that’s VAC-secured.

Otherwise, you’re free to toggle VAC on or off whenever you like. With this knowledge, you’re ready to fine-tune your server and dive back into the vampiric world of V Rising!
