How to Change Your Rust Server Name

Other Games·March 22, 2026·6 min read

When you own a Rust server, customizing your server is often important for both players and owners themselves. Whether to make your server stand out in a list or simply to change the name, there are a few ways to do it.

Changing the Rust server name can be confusing for unfamiliar players, so we have created this Holy Hosting guide to walk you through the configuration process.

Changing Through the Main Panel:

1. Go to the Holy Server Panel and stop the server.

2. Scroll down and locate the Public Server Name field.

3. In this field, enter the server name you want.

4. Once complete, scroll down and press the Save button.

5. Restart the server to load the changes.

Changing Through Customizations:

1. Go to the Holy Server Panel and stop the server.

2. Head to the Customizations tab on the left side.

3. Locate the Public Server Name field.

4. Enter the server name you want.

5. Once complete, return to the main panel page and restart the server.

Once this is complete, your server should display the chosen name in the server browser!

Common Issues:

The server name keeps reverting to the previous value in the panel:

Often, this means the name is not being saved correctly. After setting the name on the main panel page, make sure to click the

Save button at the bottom of the page for the changes to take effect. If the issues persist, go to the Customizations tab and check if the name updates correctly there.

The name doesn't change in-game:

There are many reasons why the name doesn't change in-game. First, make sure to restart the server after saving the changes for them to take effect. If the name still doesn't change after that, try changing it through the other method described above.
