Farming Simulator 22 gives players several ways to earn money, and contracts are one of the most reliable options. These jobs can bring in extra cash without requiring ownership of every field, which is helpful when the farm budget still looks like a warning label.

Contracts are jobs assigned by the game's AI. Farming Simulator 22 generates them randomly, along with their completion requirements. Most contracts use standard farming mechanics such as plowing, harvesting, fertilizing, cultivating, and seeding.
Each contract has its own requirements. Most jobs need specific vehicles or tools. Players can use their own equipment, or they can lease the required items if buying them is too expensive.
Borrowed items can be leased directly from the Contracts tab. After accepting the contract with borrowed equipment, go to the shop, pick up the leased machines, and drive them to the field. Once the job is confirmed as complete, the leased equipment is returned automatically.
Contracts pay money after completion. The reward usually depends on the difficulty and scope of the work. Contracts can also disappear from the menu, often because of seasonal changes or landscape changes.
Contracts can be very useful for beginner players, but not every job is worth the same amount of time. The goal is to protect return on investment by choosing efficient work.

Low-paying contracts can look easy, but they often waste more time than they are worth. A small seeding and fertilizing job on the edge of the map might pay only $387, but still require travel time, seeds, and possibly leased equipment.
Even if you already own the equipment, seeds still cost money. After 15 minutes of driving, working, and returning, the final profit may be barely noticeable.
Leasing equipment lowers ROI even more, so higher-paying contracts are usually a better use of time.

Farming Simulator 22 allows players to accept multiple contracts. Use that by taking similar jobs that rely on the same equipment.
For example, several fertilizing contracts can often be handled with one leased spreader. This saves money because the equipment only needs to be rented once.
Do not confirm a contract as complete until all related accepted jobs are finished. Confirming completion returns leased equipment automatically, which means another rental fee may be needed for the remaining jobs.

It is possible to judge progress by looking at the field, but the game usually gives some leeway before a contract is considered finished.
For example, a cultivating contract may complete before every inch of the field is covered. Checking the progress menu regularly can save time and let players move to the next contract sooner.

Hiring AI workers can make contracts feel faster, but their cost can cut heavily into profit. In some cases, hiring help for contract work can make the job barely break even.
Contracts are often best during seasons with downtime. Summer can be a good window in Farming Simulator 22, since planting options are limited to grapes and canola during that period.
