Dune: Awakening 1.2.40.0 Patch Notes Add Character Transfers

Other Games·January 21, 2026·11 min read

Dune: Awakening update 1.2.40.0 is not a massive content drop, but it does add one feature players have been waiting on: character transfers. The patch also includes smaller fixes for crafting, vehicles, UI, and base backup management.

Dune: Awakening Update 1.2.40.0 Highlights

The biggest addition in update 1.2.40.0 is full character transfer support. Players can now move a character to a new Sietch and World while keeping inventory, bank contents, Solari, backed-up bases, and backed-up vehicles.

That is especially useful if friends are playing elsewhere or if a server move makes more sense for your group. Instead of starting over with a new character, you can bring your current progress with you, provided you follow the transfer requirements.

The patch also adds a confirmation prompt before forgetting a backed-up base in the Base Reconstruction Tool. That extra step should help prevent accidental deletions, which is nice because losing a base backup to one bad click is nobody's idea of strategic gameplay.

Features and Changes

New Feature: Character Transfers

  • Players can move their character, inventory, and bank contents, including Solari, to a new Sietch and World.
  • Transfers can be started from the Server Browser or the in-game System Menu.
  • Back up your base or bases with the Base Reconstruction Tool before starting the transfer.
  • Back up your vehicle or vehicles with the Vehicle Backup Tool before starting the transfer.
  • The character must be in Hagga Basin to begin the transfer.
  • Retained items include inventory, bank contents, Solari balance, Vehicle Backup Tool contents, and Base Reconstruction Tool contents.
  • A list of key items that will be lost is shown before confirmation.
  • Players must acknowledge transfer limitations and complete manual text entry to proceed.
  • If the character name is already taken on the target server, the player will be prompted to choose a new name.
  • A loading screen appears during transfer, and the player cannot exit until the transfer finishes.
  • After completion, the player is told they can join the new server.
  • The transferred character spawns at Griffin's Reach in the Hagga Basin on the new server.
  • Each player has one transfer token.
  • The transfer token automatically replenishes 7 days after use.
  • Exiting the flow or session cancels the transfer.
  • Transfers are final, and returning requires a new transfer.
  • If technical issues occur, the system automatically attempts to complete or roll back the transfer.
  • No other character transfers can be started on the account while a character is marked In Transfer.

Resources, Building, and Crafting

  • Players now need to enter text to confirm forgetting a backed-up base in the Base Reconstruction Tool, reducing accidental deletions.

User Interface

  • Changed Place Blueprint and Forget Blueprint in the Base Reconstruction Tool UI to Place base backup and Destroy base backup.
  • Swapped the positions of Destroy Base Backup and Snap To Origin in the Base Backup Tool UI.

Fixes

Resources, Building, and Crafting

  • Fixed an issue where cancelling large crafting queues could drop some resources on the floor even when enough inventory circuit space was available.
  • Fixed an issue with Carrier Cargo Container sandstorm damage mitigation that caused the containers to be destroyed too quickly. They should now resist sandstorms better.
  • Fixed an issue preventing bases from being placed close to No Building Zones with the Base Reconstruction Tool.
  • Fixed an issue preventing bases from being placed with the Base Reconstruction Tool when a blocking volume was too close vertically to the landclaim.

Vehicles

  • Fixed an issue where harnessed vehicles sometimes failed to appear after travelling back to Hagga Basin with the ornithopter transporter.

User Interface

  • Fixed a typo in the Holographic Room Sign.
