DayZ Namalsk Map Guide: POIs, Survival Tips, Space Suit, and Lantia

Other Games·April 8, 2026·23 min read

Namalsk is one of DayZ's best-known community maps because it makes survival feel hostile from the first minutes. It is cold, supplies are scarce, storms can flatten an unprepared survivor, and the endgame involves building a space suit to reach Lantia. Subtle, it is not.

What to Expect on Namalsk

Namalsk measures about 30 km x 32 km in the DayZ world. It is larger than Deadfall but much smaller than Chernarus, which means encounters are more frequent and firefights often happen at shorter range.

Terrain matters here. Rolling hills, vertical angles, and exposed routes force players to rethink weapons and movement. A setup that works on a wide open map may feel clumsy when the next fight starts above, below, or just around a frozen corner.

The map is defined by its weather. Heavy snowstorms, EVR storms, and constant sub-freezing temperatures make nature the first enemy. Infected and players still matter, but the cold is always working in the background.

Because of that, clothing and fire materials are not optional conveniences. Warm layers, heatpacks, and the ability to make a fire can decide whether a loot run continues or ends beside a tree. Some of Namalsk's better loot areas are hard to reach without heat management, so survival preparation directly affects progression.

Food is also limited. Most food spawns are in the northern part of Namalsk, and much of it may be frozen until warmed by a fire. Moving south makes food harder to find. Animals are uncommon, and some of the creatures you do meet may be wolves or bears.

EVR storms are especially dangerous. If caught outside without protection, a player can be knocked unconscious and lose half their health. To survive one, lie down inside a building or wear protective gear.

Vorkuta is the only major city, but Namalsk has many varied buildings and military sites. The best loot, including strong weapons and materials for the space suit, often requires warm clothing, heat buffs, and careful travel.

The map also changes how supplies are valued. Food and heatpacks deserve priority because they keep you moving long enough to reach better locations. A powerful weapon is useful, but it does not matter much if the owner freezes before finding ammunition.

Major Namalsk POIs

Vorkuta

Vorkuta is Namalsk's main city and the best early-game loot concentration. It has food, water, warmer clothing, starter weapons, and enough buildings to keep scavengers busy.

Useful Vorkuta spots include:

  • Military areas around the city edges: Good chances for weapons and equipment.
  • Northeast Fire Station: Potential axes and firefighter clothing with better insulation.
  • City center: A school, grocery stores, and hospital. The school has a well, and the hospital has a nearby military tent.

Because Vorkuta is so useful early, it also attracts other fresh survivors. The city can provide a strong start, but it is rarely quiet. Treat open streets, windows, and rooftops as possible angles rather than scenery.

Northern Army Base, BK-M06

BK-M06 sits close to common spawn areas, making it a practical early loot target. Its biggest advantages are the nearby lake and nearby secondary POIs.

Fishing is easier in lakes than in the ocean, so the lake near BK-M06 can become a dependable food source. The base also offers shelter during storms or when avoiding players. West of BK-M06, a smaller military base, village, and shipping area add more scavenging options within a short walk.

This combination makes BK-M06 a practical staging area. A player can fish, loot, warm up, and then decide whether to push farther inland or rotate through the nearby smaller locations. It is not risk-free, but few useful Namalsk locations are.

Athena Research Institute

The Athena Research Institute is a major late-game location with medical loot, military barracks, and underground tunnels. The tunnels can contain some of the best loot in the area.

Because Athena is farther south, players there are often better equipped. It is also a known PvP zone, with research buildings commonly used as sniper positions. Roofs may offer vision, but they can also turn into very short life decisions.

Approach Athena slowly and expect contact. The amount of medical gear, military equipment, body armor, backpacks, ammunition, and improved weapons makes it worth checking, but that same loot value is why other players go there too.

Marooned Ship, Sibirskiy-2119

Sibirskiy-2119 is far to the west. Reaching it usually requires swimming, though nearby land strips can reduce the time spent in freezing water. Bring fire-making materials so you can dry clothes and warm up afterward.

The ship itself is not the main prize. The surrounding lighthouse and military base are the valuable areas, with chances for SVD Dragunov rifles, night vision goggles, high-tier scopes, military weapons, and other strong loot. Fire barrels in the area can help offset the swim.

Sebjan Dam

Sebjan Dam is one of the few natural land bridges between the northern and southern parts of the continent. That makes it a high-traffic PvP area and a common camping spot.

Loot here is not the best on Namalsk, but it is better than most northern early-game locations. Expect mid-tier weapons, military supplies, and whatever other players dropped after learning why bridges are dangerous.

Military Base BK-T12

BK-T12 is south of the small island with Sibirskiy-2119. It is tucked into trees and works as a mid-game stop before pushing toward higher-value areas.

The loot is better than early-game areas but not top tier. Clothing and limited medical supplies are more likely here than at Sebjan Dam. Southwest and uphill from the base is a static crashed helicopter, which can offer high-end weapons each time it is visited.

Many players use BK-T12 as a staging ground before moving toward Athena Research Institute. It gives enough equipment to prepare for tougher routes without immediately forcing a fight in the most contested southern areas.

How to Reach Lantia

Namalsk's biggest endgame objective is reaching Lantia, an alien world accessed through a portal. Getting there requires strong survival basics and several specific items.

Before chasing the Lantia route, stock food, warm clothing, and medical supplies. The process sends players through dangerous locations, and losing a required item late in the chain can mean repeating a long section of the journey.

Crafting the LEHS Mk3 Space Suit

Lantia requires the Lantia Expeditionary Hazard Suit Mk3, or LEHS Mk3. Without it, survival there is very short.

To craft the suit, gather:

  • Nylon Filament: Found in industrial areas on Tara Island, shown by the left blue arrow in the image above.
  • ABS Filament: Found in industrial areas on Tara Island, shown by the left blue arrow.
  • TPC Filament: Found in industrial areas on Tara Island, shown by the left blue arrow.
  • Pipe Wrench: Found around industrial areas and workplaces such as sheds and construction sites.
  • NAC Access Card: Found on a submarine at SKAT-12, shown by the right red arrow.
  • Complete NBC Suit: Jacket, Pants, Gloves, Boots, Hood, and Gas Mask. This protects against toxic gas and can be found in hospitals or industrial locations, with a higher spawn chance on Tara Island.

After collecting everything, travel to the Phoenix Oil Rig, marked by the right blue arrow in the image above. Use the special printer there to craft the LEHS Mk3.

The NBC Suit is important before this point because toxic gas is part of the route. Hospitals and industrial sites are worth checking repeatedly if one piece of the suit is missing. Tara Island has a higher chance for both NBC components and several filament materials, making it a key preparation stop.

Opening the Portal to Athena 3

The suit keeps you alive, but opening the route requires a Pulsar Locator. It usually spawns on the Phoenix Oil Rig, though it can also appear at the Athena Research Institute, marked by the left red arrow.

With the Pulsar Locator, NAC Access Card, and LEHS Mk3, go to Athena 2, shown by the right yellow arrow. Enter the main building and descend to the 3rd Basement Floor.

At the control panel, wear the LEHS Mk3 and wait for an EVR storm notification. When the storm begins, interact with the panel. This opens a portal at Athena 1, marked by the left yellow arrow.

Move quickly. Do not stop to loot, and avoid wildlife, infected, or players. At Athena 1, cross the bridge beside the spherical portal and jump in to reach Athena 3.

The timing here is part of the challenge. The LEHS Mk3 helps by warning you about the EVR storm above ground, but it does not make the run safe. Plan the route before triggering the portal rather than trying to navigate under pressure.

Entering Lantia

Athena 3 has three floors and is safe to explore. Loot what you want before starting the next portal, because the Lantia timer is strict.

On the first floor, find the control room and insert the Pulsar Locator and NAC Access Card. This allows a portal to Lantia to open on the third floor of Athena 3.

Once the portal begins spawning, you have two minutes to reach the third floor. After entering Lantia, another two-minute timer effectively limits your looting window before the portal closes.

If the portal closes while you are still in Lantia, you are trapped. The safer method is to go with a friend and leave one player in Athena 3 so they can reopen the portal. A Pulsar Locator can only be used three times before it is destroyed.

Lantia contains valuable loot, with the Lantia Plate Carrier as the standout reward. It has 300 durability, 25 inventory slots, reduced damage from high-caliber shots, and high insulation.

That reward is why the route is worth attempting for experienced survivors. It also explains why the steps are demanding: gathering the suit parts, finding the Pulsar Locator, using the control panels, and managing the portal timer all test different parts of Namalsk survival.
