DayZ Deadfall Map Guide: Escape Objective, Passage Routes, and Survival Tips

Other Games·July 22, 2024·13 min read

Deadfall is a community-made DayZ map with a sharper end goal than standard survival. Staying alive still matters, but the real objective is to escape. That gives the map a different pace from vanilla DayZ and makes every risky move feel tied to progression.

What Makes Deadfall Different?

Deadfall is a 10x10 km DayZ map, making it smaller than the official maps. It is only available on Greenhell DayZ servers. The smaller size creates more frequent PvP contact, so moving carelessly is a quick way to donate your gear to someone with better patience.

The map keeps much of DayZ's familiar survival feel but adds a clear route toward a place called the Passage, located across the river. The POIs shown above help mark the broader layout.

Watch the teaser below for a look at the map:

Key Deadfall rules and features include:

  • Players spawn in different locations.
  • Death removes you from the server, forcing a return to the queue.
  • Starting gear is limited to a few pieces of clothing instead of the usual fruit and bandages.
  • Food and water are scarce. Fish when possible for a steadier food source.
  • The in-game map resembles a physical real-world map.
  • The main objective is to reach the Passage across the river.
  • Crossing the river requires using a pipe, which creates an obvious choke point for campers.
  • Loot quality improves closer to the Passage, moving from weak tools like screwdrivers and broken pitchforks to firearms such as carbines and rifles after the river.
  • Skeletons, skullspiders, and wraiths appear alongside standard infected, usually in specific areas like castles.

Entering the Passage

Deadfall has three entrances into the Passage. Each entrance number is shown on a tent outside the entry point. To open the large door, use the nearby switch.

Opening the door triggers an alarm, which can pull infected and players toward your position. Do not treat the entrance like a quiet checkpoint. It is more like ringing a dinner bell in a room full of knives.

Inside, the Passage becomes a maze of tunnels and enclosed spaces. Bring a light source and a gas mask, since the first corridor is blocked by poison gas. The goal inside is to find the exit, but the exit requires a keycard that spawns randomly somewhere in the Passage.

Passage Route from Entrance 1

  • Follow the first corridor until it opens up.
  • Keep moving forward until a small gate appears on the right.
  • Enter the next tunnel.
  • Pass through the small office at the tunnel's end and continue into another open area.
  • Go straight until reaching a warehouse with a truck inside.
  • Enter the building and take the door ahead into another tunnel.
  • Look for 0201 on the left wall after leaving the tunnel.
  • Continue straight, then turn right at the first corner.
  • Follow the path into an alley and toward the exit.

Passage Route from Entrance 2

  • Move through the first corridor after entering.
  • Turn right at the intersection and continue forward.
  • Turn left into the gated area when it appears.
  • Use the small security outpost behind the gate as confirmation.
  • Look for 0101 near the end of the short corridor.
  • Leave that area for an open space.
  • Keep right until the alley and exit appear.

Passage Route from Entrance 3

  • Take the first corridor after entering Entrance 3.
  • Turn right at the first corner and continue forward.
  • Turn left into the gated area with the small security outpost.
  • Watch for 0102 on the ceiling before leaving that section.
  • Push into the long corridor, open the door, and enter the warehouse.
  • Move through the warehouse and exit.
  • Turn sharply right and keep walking forward.
  • Enter the door beside 0202, then take the door directly ahead.
  • Follow the long tunnel into an open area.
  • Move forward, turn left when possible, and continue until the alley and exit.

Deadfall is built for players who want DayZ to have a defined escape path without abandoning the harsh survival loop. If that sounds too intense, vanilla DayZ is still there, waiting patiently with hunger, rain, and other familiar bad news.
