How to Connect to a Minecraft Bedrock Server on PS4 or PS5

Can PlayStation Join Custom Minecraft Servers?

Minecraft on PlayStation does not include a direct field for entering a custom server IP. On PS4 and PS5, the in-game server screen normally shows Realms and the official Featured Servers list, but not a manual address box.

That does not mean you are stuck on the default list forever. PS4 and PS5 players can still reach Bedrock-compatible servers by using a proxy app, changing DNS settings with BedrockConnect, or running a LAN broadcast tool from a computer.

The same limitation applies to the native PS5 version of Minecraft, which released in October 2024 as a free upgrade for PS4 owners. The menus look newer, but the custom server workaround is still the same old dance.

If the server is Java Edition with GeyserMC enabled, Bedrock players can usually connect through these methods. Floodgate is only needed when Bedrock players do not own a Java Edition account.

Get Your Server IP and Port

Before trying any connection method, find the server address and Bedrock port. In the HolyHosting control panel, check the server address area and look for the IP followed by a colon and a number.

For example, if the address is `123.456.78.90:25695`, the IP is `123.456.78.90` and the port is `25695`. Keep both values ready, because most apps ask for them in separate fields.

Method 1: Use BedrockTogether on PS4 or PS5

BedrockTogether is one of the simplest ways to connect a PlayStation console to a custom Bedrock server. It runs on a phone or tablet, creates a local network game, and lets your PlayStation see that game from the Friends tab.

  1. Install BedrockTogether from Google Play or the Apple App Store.
  2. Open the app on your phone or tablet.
  3. Enter the server IP in the IP field.
  4. Enter the server port in the Port field.
  5. Tap the green button to start the connection. The free version may require watching an ad.
  6. Leave the app open while you play.
  7. Open Minecraft on your PlayStation.
  8. Select Play, then open the Friends tab.
  9. Look under LAN Games and join the BedrockTogether entry.

Both devices must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network. If your phone is on mobile data or a guest network, the LAN game will not appear. It can also take a minute or two for the entry to show up, so start the app first, then open Minecraft on the console.

Closing BedrockTogether ends the proxy session. Keep it running in the background unless you enjoy reconnecting more than actually mining blocks.

Method 2: Join Without a Phone Using BedrockConnect DNS

BedrockConnect works differently. Instead of using a phone app, you change the PlayStation DNS settings so the Featured Servers screen is redirected to a custom menu. From there, you can enter a server IP and port.

  1. On your PlayStation, open Settings.
  2. Go to Network, then Set Up Internet Connection.
  3. Choose your current connection type, Wi-Fi or LAN cable.
  4. Select Custom setup.
  5. When asked for DNS Settings, choose Manual.
  6. Set Primary DNS to `104.238.130.180`.
  7. Set Secondary DNS to `8.8.8.8`.
  8. Finish the setup and save the connection.
  9. Open Minecraft, choose Play, then go to the Servers tab.
  10. Use the BedrockConnect menu to enter your server IP and port.

If that DNS address stops working, check the BedrockConnect GitHub page for current alternatives. Community DNS servers can change over time. To undo the setup, return to your PlayStation network settings and switch DNS back to Automatic.

Method 3: Use a Computer LAN Proxy

Some players prefer a computer-based proxy because it can be more stable than a mobile app. The trade-off is that setup is more technical.

Phantom for Windows and Mac

Phantom is a command-line tool that broadcasts a remote Bedrock server as if it were a LAN game. Your PlayStation can then find it from the Friends tab in Minecraft.

To use Phantom, download the correct release for your operating system, open Command Prompt on Windows or Terminal on Mac, then run the Phantom command with your server IP and port. After a short wait, the console should detect the LAN broadcast.

Phantom is best for users who are comfortable with command-line tools. Also check the project releases before downloading, since older builds may not match the newest Minecraft versions.

Other Mobile Apps That Can Work

BedrockTogether is usually the easiest option, but it is not the only one. If it does not work well on your network, these alternatives use a similar idea.

MC LAN Proxy

MC LAN Proxy is an Android app that creates a LAN connection for your PlayStation. Open the app, enter the server IP and port, start the proxy, then join from the Friends tab in Minecraft. The free version includes ads, while the paid version removes them.

MC Server Connector

MC Server Connector is available on Android and iOS. Enter the address and port, start the connection, wait for any required ad to finish, then join the LAN game from Minecraft on your PS4 or PS5.

If the LAN entry does not appear after two minutes, force-close and reopen the app. Also confirm the phone and console are on the same Wi-Fi network. If Minecraft says it cannot connect to the world, check that the port was entered in the port field instead of being left attached to the IP address.

Joining Donut SMP or Other Bedrock-Compatible Servers

These methods work with any server that supports Bedrock Edition connections. For a native Bedrock server, use the host's Bedrock IP and port. For a Java server using GeyserMC, use the Bedrock connection details provided by that server.

Donut SMP is a common example. Bedrock players can connect through GeyserMC by using `donutsmp.net` as the address and `19132` as the port. Server details can change, so check the official website or Discord before troubleshooting your own setup.

For any other community server, confirm that Bedrock players are supported before spending time on PlayStation connection workarounds. A Java-only server without GeyserMC will not accept Bedrock clients from PS4 or PS5.

If you want to host your own cross-platform server, HolyHosting supports Bedrock servers and Java servers with Bedrock crossplay setups.

Common PlayStation Connection Problems

The Server Will Not Connect

The most common cause is an incorrect IP or port. Recheck both values, restart Minecraft, and try again. If you control the server, restart it as well. For Java servers using GeyserMC, add Floodgate if Bedrock players do not have Java Edition accounts.

The LAN Game Does Not Appear

Make sure the PlayStation and phone or computer are on the same local network. Guest Wi-Fi networks, mobile hotspots, and VPNs can prevent the LAN broadcast from showing. Restarting both devices can also help.

Proxy apps usually do not work properly through Android emulators such as BlueStacks. Use a real phone, tablet, or computer instead.

Minecraft Says the Server Is Outdated

The server may be running an older Minecraft version. Restart a Bedrock server so it can update if automatic updates are enabled. For Java servers with GeyserMC, adding ViaVersion can help newer clients connect.

Too Many Connection Attempts

If the server rejects repeated joins, wait a few minutes before trying again. When you own the server, a restart can clear stuck connection attempts.

FAQ

How do I join a Minecraft server on PS5 or PS4?

Use a proxy app such as BedrockTogether, enter the server IP and port, start the connection, then join from the LAN Games area in the Friends tab. BedrockConnect DNS is another option if you do not want to use a phone.

Can PS5 join custom Minecraft servers in 2026?

Yes, but not through a normal manual IP field. PS5 players still need a workaround such as BedrockTogether, BedrockConnect, MC Server Connector, MC LAN Proxy, or Phantom.

Why is my server missing from the Friends tab?

The proxy device and PlayStation are probably not on the same Wi-Fi network, or the proxy app is not running. Wait one to two minutes after starting the app before assuming it failed.

What is the best app for joining Bedrock servers on PlayStation?

BedrockTogether is the most common choice because it works on Android and iOS and has a straightforward setup. If it does not work for your network, try MC Server Connector, MC LAN Proxy, BedrockConnect, or Phantom.

Where do I find my HolyHosting server address and port?

Open your HolyHosting control panel and look for the server address. The number after the colon is the port. For `123.456.78.90:25695`, use `123.456.78.90` as the IP and `25695` as the port.

What is BedrockConnect?

BedrockConnect is a community DNS method that redirects the Minecraft Featured Servers screen to a menu where you can enter a custom server address. On PlayStation, set the Primary DNS to `104.238.130.180`, then open Minecraft and use the Servers tab.

Can PS5 join Donut SMP?

Yes. Use `donutsmp.net` as the address and `19132` as the port in BedrockTogether or BedrockConnect. Always verify the current connection details through Donut SMP's official channels first.
