Conan Exiles Age of War Chapter 2 followed Chapter 1 with improved loot, paid cosmetics, and a major Purge rework. The update was planned as a free release for official servers, with its features also available early through the game's Public Beta Client.

Age of War Chapter 2 Release Date

Conan Exiles Age of War Chapter 2 was scheduled to release on official servers on September 21. Players who wanted to test the changes before the live launch could download and run the Public Beta Client.

What Changed in Chapter 2?

Funcom shared new Chapter 2 details on August 24 through the Age of War Chapter 2 announcement. The update focused on making rewards more satisfying, adding new cosmetic options, and giving players more control over when the Purge begins.

Loot Overhaul

Chapter 2 reworked loot so exploration rewards felt more worthwhile. Instead of opening a dungeon chest and finding only crafting ingredients, players could receive stronger finds such as epic weapons. That made dangerous locations more attractive, assuming the local monsters agreed to cooperate. They usually do not.

The update also added new paid cosmetics for players who want their Exiles to look sharper while surviving, raiding, or being launched off cliffs by poor decisions. Many of these cosmetics were tied to the new Battle Pass, including emotes and weapon skins.

Purge Revamp

The Purge received the biggest change. Before Chapter 2, Purges were semi-random events triggered after players completed enough in-game activity. Chapter 2 changed that into a more deliberate system.

After the update, players could speak with their treasurer and announce their wealth to the world. That declaration attracted the Stygians, starting a Purge when the player or clan chose to invite trouble.

This gave defenders time to prepare. Players could strengthen walls, design bases that funnel attackers, place traps, and organize clanmates before the invasion began. The Purge still punished bad planning, but at least it did so by appointment.

To end the Purge, players had to find and kill the Hand of War, the invaders' leader. If the Hand of War survived, the Stygians would continue attacking, destroying, and looting the base.

Funcom also noted that Chapter 3 planned to add wall-mounted archers that could function like defensive turrets.
