Glitchwalkers is Astroneer's first major expansion, arriving years after the game's Early Access debut. The DLC adds a separate adventure space with a new planet, new threats, and story content built around a disruption in the training program.

Astroneer: Glitchwalkers launched on November 13, 2024 at 9 AM PST. The DLC price is $9.99, with Game Pass subscribers expected to have access to a purchase discount.
The paid expansion also arrived alongside free base-game updates. Those free additions included new content, missions, and modules. Storms connected to Aeoluz also came to the base game, though their behavior differs outside the DLC.
Glitchwalkers is presented as Astroneer's first major expansion, adding a new environment, technology, puzzles, and a hostile force trying to interfere with the training program.
The headline addition is Aeoluz, a new planet with distinct biomes and extra environmental challenges. Reaching it is not immediate. Players must first complete the mission A Core Concept, which unlocks a new mission chain. Following that chain eventually opens access to the expansion content.
Glitchwalkers uses a separate level and save structure. Once the unlock mission is reached, players move to a screen that resembles the main menu and can switch between the base game and the DLC. Progress does not carry back and forth between the base game and Glitchwalkers, so treat it as a parallel adventure rather than a standard planet hop.
Astroneer is usually more about logistics than combat, but Glitchwalkers introduces a new antagonist. A rogue Astroneer has taken control on Aeoluz and threatens anyone who gets in the way.
The planet also features Glitched Storms. These storms are dangerous because they can leave Astroneers vulnerable to hacking. Avoiding or surviving them is part of the expansion's new hazard loop, which gives Aeoluz a sharper edge than a routine resource run.
Players who do not own Glitchwalkers can still join an Astroneer server where the host has the expansion. They can explore Aeoluz and experience its mechanics, but they cannot unlock DLC-specific rewards such as the new palette and suit.

The DLC adds new modules and technologies intended to help players adapt to Aeoluz. It also expands Astroneer's narrative through its new missions and mysteries.
