Astroneer Chemistry Lab Guide: Unlock Cost, Materials, and Recipes

The Chemistry Lab is one of Astroneer's key progression stations. It turns basic and refined materials into advanced resources such as Rubber, Plastic, Diamond, Steel, and Nanocarbon Alloy.

How to Craft the Chemistry Lab

Before making a Chemistry Lab, craft a Medium Printer. Use 2x Compound at a Small Printer to make it.

Place and power the Medium Printer, then craft the Chemistry Lab with:

• 1x Tungsten
• 1x Glass
• 1x Ceramic

Tungsten is smelted from Wolframite in a Smelting Furnace. Glass is made by smelting Quartz. Ceramic is made by smelting Clay.

Unlocking the Chemistry Lab schematic costs 1,600 Bytes in the Research Chamber. Using the Chemistry Lab once also awards the Lab Rat achievement.

• Steel: 1x Carbon, 1x Iron, and 1x Argon
• Titanium Alloy: 1x Titanium, 1x Graphene, and 1x Nitrogen
• Nanocarbon Alloy: 1x Steel, 1x Titanium Alloy, and 1x Helium

The Chemistry Lab uses 10 energy units per second while active. Each craft takes 10 seconds, though a full production cycle is about 13 seconds unless the finished item is grabbed before the doors open. Astroneer machines have manners, but speedrunners do not.
