Arma 3's Creator DLC program lets third-party developers build official expansions for the military sandbox. Spearhead 1944 is one of those community-made releases, and it shifts the battlefield back to World War II Normandy.

Spearhead 1944 recreates late-war combat around Normandy with single-player and multiplayer content. Players can fight as infantry, operate vehicles, hold defensive positions, or coordinate larger attacks across terrain inspired by inland Normandy.
The DLC keeps Arma 3's open tactical structure intact. Solo missions work, but the sandbox becomes especially flexible when a group starts assigning roles and arguing politely over who gets the flamethrower.
The Spearhead 1944 terrain is a 1:2 scale recreation of real Normandy countryside tied to Operation Cobra. That offensive pushed through heavy German resistance by using the terrain and a concentrated spearhead attack.
In game, the 150 km2 map includes hedgerows, rivers, farms, fields, and close-quarters fighting spaces. Those features make movement, concealment, and ambushes more important than simply sprinting toward the next marker.
Spearhead 1944 adds 30 weapons, including the M2 Flamethrower and M1 Garand. Players can also use explosives such as APERS mines and TNT charges, plus attachments for illumination, concealment, and close-range engagements.
The DLC includes five factions, including the French Interior Forces and the French Liberation Army. Some equipment is faction-specific, so loadout options depend on the side selected.
Vehicle content includes 31 variants, with examples such as the M18 Hellcat, M10 Tank Destroyer, and M3 Half Track variants.
Gear customization is broad as well. Spearhead includes more than 200 uniforms, 60 vests, 70 backpacks, 150 headgear options, and many accessories.
The Spearhead 1944 Steam page describes both solo and online content. Solo players can learn the equipment and history of Operation Cobra through a mission called Der Zahnarzt, which places the player in the role of a French Resistance soldier.
For multiplayer, up to 24 players can take part in late-1944 operations. Roles include engineer, tanker, and flamethrower operator, giving squads room to plan around specialist duties instead of sending 24 people to solve every problem with enthusiasm and rifles.
Spearhead 1944 expands several Arma 3 modes:
Spearhead 1944 makes the most sense for players who want Arma 3's sandbox systems without the modern setting. Its value comes from the combination of a large Normandy terrain, historically themed factions, role-focused multiplayer, and enough equipment variety to support infantry, armor, engineering, and fire-support scenarios. It is also useful for mission makers who want World War II assets inside Arma 3 rather than building the same foundation from separate mods.
The DLC also includes several mechanics and presentation upgrades:
