Holy Team

Wandering the island in Sons of the Forest, you might notice a stranger trailing behind you who definitely isn't Kelvin. Three arms, twitchy behavior, and a habit of vanishing the moment you make eye contact. That's Virginia, and with patience (plus a few specific moves) you can convince her to settle in at your camp.

The worst thing you can do is chase her down. Sprint at Virginia and you'll catch a flash of panic on her face right before she bolts into the trees. The whole approach hinges on letting her decide when she's ready, not the other way around.
Stick to these habits while she's lingering nearby:
Treat her like a stray cat that might claw your face off. Patience pays off. Eventually she'll start dropping gifts at your feet, which is your cue to finally approach and return the gesture.

Once Virginia is part of the crew, she turns into a surprisingly capable bodyguard. Hand her a weapon and she'll defend herself, and that extra arm means she can dual-wield. Pairing a pistol with a shotgun is the standard loadout if you want her to actually contribute in a fight.
A few quirks to keep in mind:

Recruiting Virginia is only step one. Actually bonding with her unlocks the Chivalry Is Not Dead achievement, and that takes consistent effort.
Actions that boost sentiment:
You'll know it's working when she returns the favor: dropping off berries, herbs, and sticks, sitting beside you at a campfire or tent, gesturing toward nearby caves or loot, throwing the occasional thumbs-up, or just standing uncomfortably close (something that became more frequent after patch 04).
Don't undo your progress by aiming a gun at her. Also keep in mind that Virginia, like Kelvin, doesn't respawn. If she dies, she's gone for good. Watch her health and resist the urge to send her into reckless fights.
