When you own a Rust server, adding administrators is an important step for moderation. Whether it’s to monitor or remove cheating players, or simply to manage plugins using in-game commands, having admin players is the best way to keep your Rust server running smoothly. With HolyHosting, adding administrators is easy — here’s how to get started.

Obtaining a Steam ID
Go to the SteamID website.
Enter the Steam profile link of the desired user.
Copy the SteamID64 number from the page.
Now you’re ready to add the player as an administrator.
Admin Roles in Rust
ownerid: Grants access to all commands and the ability to add or remove other administrators.
moderatorid: Grants access to all commands but cannot add or remove other administrators.
Configuring Administrators
Access your HolyHosting server panel.
Open the console on the left-hand side.
Enter the following command:
[role] [64_bit_steam_id] [reason/username]
Replace [role] with one of the roles above, enter the SteamID64 number, and include a reason or username.
Example: ownerid 76561198169700921 Daltondorf
Enter the command writecfg in the console to save the changes.
If the player was already on the server when added as an admin, they must rejoin the server to apply the access.

Removing Admin Roles
To remove an owner or moderator at any time, return to the console and run the respective command:
removeowner [64_bit_steam_id]
removemoderator [64_bit_steam_id]
Then, make sure to use server.writecfg to save the changes and apply them in-game.
