Rust is a game purely about surviving in a world where everything is against you. Whether facing the environment, animals hunting you, or even other players, you must be prepared to do whatever it takes to survive.
Setting Up the Server Version:
If you are installing Rust on an existing server, we strongly recommend backing up all files beforehand through the FTP File
Access. When you are ready, you can proceed:
1. Access the HolyHosting server panel and stop the server.
2. Scroll down to the JAR File section, then open the dropdown menu.
3. Search for Rust and select "Rust.Rust Panel".
4. Select "Change Version" when prompted, generate a new world when asked, then restart.
The server will now begin to start up and create the new Rust world. Note that this may take a few minutes, especially on the first start.
Connecting via Console:
When on the HolyHosting server panel, scroll down to the IP Address:Port section.
Copy the client.connect IP from the panel.
Launch Rust through Steam.
In the main menu, press "F1", paste the text, and then press Enter.
Connecting with the Server Browser:
Open your Rust game client.
Once launched, press "Play Game".
Choose a section from the list based on your server:
- Community: Vanilla Rust Servers.
- Modded: Modded Rust Servers with Oxide.
- Favorites: Servers bookmarked as favorites directly.
- History: Servers you previously joined.
Use the search bar to locate the server of your choice.
Press "Join Server".
Connecting via Steam Servers:
Open your Steam client, then go to View > Servers at the top.
Go to the favorites section and press "Add a Server".
Enter your server IP and press "Add this address to favorites".
You can now refresh the page, select the server, and press "Connect".
Conclusion:
Once any of these methods are completed, you should start connecting to your Rust server. It may take a while to load due to the game's size, but after some time you will appear and be able to start playing.
Overall, there are multiple methods to achieve the same result. Personally, I prefer joining through the console at first and then visiting the "History" tab to join the same server in the future.
