How to Install a Custom ModPack on Minecraft

Customizing Minecraft with Forge or Fabric mods allows you to completely transform the gaming experience, from exploring new dimensions to fighting with advanced weapons. To use many mods at once, modpacks are created, which are curated collections of modifications.

Before installing a custom modpack:

• Make sure you have all the mod .jar files organized in an accessible folder.

Once you have the mods ready on your computer, you can begin the installation in Minecraft.

Default Launcher Setup

The classic way to set up custom modpacks is by using the vanilla Minecraft launcher. This is what many players do, but it involves prior setup because mods require Forge or Fabric depending on their design. When you are ready to add the mods, it is extremely easy and does not take much time. Check the sections below to start using your custom modpack.

Installing Minecraft Forge and Fabric

• Visit the official Forge.
• Choose the desired version and click on "Installer".
• Save and run the file to complete the installation.

• Go to the official Fabric website and download the universal installer.
• Save the file in an accessible location.
• Run the installer to install the Fabric client.
  Both steps are necessary depending on the type of mods you want to use (Forge or Fabric).

Adding the Mods

Once you have Forge or Fabric installed, continue following the steps below to add the mods.

• Open your Minecraft launcher, then click on "Installations" at the top.

Installing CurseForge

Go to the CurseForge downloads page.

Locate your computer's operating system and press "Download".

Save the file somewhere easily accessible on your device.

Open it to begin the launcher installation process.

Creating a Custom Profile

Creating profiles for each of your custom modpacks will give you dedicated areas to make any changes to them. It is extremely easy to

set up, as it only takes a few minutes.

• Launch the CurseForge launcher, then click on "Create Custom Profile" in "My Modpacks".

• Enter a profile name and continue selecting the Minecraft version, then the game version.

• Once everything is completed, proceed to create the profile in the bottom right corner.

• Wait for the profile to finish loading all required files.
  

Uploading the Mods

Just like adding mods in the default launcher, you will need to access the "mods" folder. However, this is now stored in your custom profile directory and is easy to reach.

• In the "My Modpacks" section of the launcher, locate and select your custom profile.

• Continue by pressing the three vertical dots and click "Open Folder" from the options list.

• In the newly opened window, open the "mods" folder.

• Proceed to drag and drop your desired mod JAR files into this area.
• Then, return to the launcher and click "Play" to the right of the profile.
