🧱 How to Install Custom ModPacks in Minecraft
Customizing Minecraft with Forge or Fabric mods allows you to completely transform the gameplay experience — from exploring new dimensions to fighting with advanced weapons. To use many mods at once, modpacks are created, which are curated collections of modifications.
🧰 Preparation Before Installing
Before installing a custom modpack:
Make sure all .jar mod files are organized in an accessible folder.
If you used the Modpack Creation Addon from HolyHosting, download the files from the Dropbox link provided by support.
Once your mods are ready on your computer, you can start the installation in Minecraft.
Default Launcher Setup
The classic way to set up custom modpacks is using the vanilla Minecraft launcher. Many players use this method, but it requires pre-configuration because mods need Forge or Fabric, depending on their design. Once ready, adding mods is straightforward and quick.
Installing Minecraft Forge and Fabric
🧩 Install Minecraft Forge
Visit the official Forge website.
Choose your desired version and click Installer.
Save and run the file to complete the installation.
🧵 Install Minecraft Fabric
Go to the official Fabric website and download the universal installer.
Save the file in an accessible location.
Run the installer to install the Fabric client.
Both steps are required depending on the type of mods you want to use (Forge or Fabric).
Adding the Mods
Once you have Forge or Fabric installed, follow these steps to add the mods:
Open your Minecraft launcher, then click Installations at the top.

Locate your installed modded profile and click on its folder icon.

In the newly opened window, go to the mods folder.
Note: If you can’t find this folder, create it before proceeding.

Next, drag and drop the .jar mod files into this folder. Return to the launcher and click Play on the modded profile to load your custom modpack.

Go back to the Launcher and play using the modded profile to load your custom ModPack.
CurseForge Launcher Setup
The CurseForge launcher is a popular alternative to the official Minecraft launcher for managing custom modpacks. It allows you to create and organize multiple profiles with support for both Forge and Fabric. Its user-friendly interface makes it easy to manage your various modded Minecraft installations.
Installing CurseForge
Go to the CurseForge download page.
Select your computer’s operating system and click Download.

Save the file in an easily accessible location on your device.
Open it to start the launcher installation process.
Creating a Custom Profile
Creating profiles for each of your custom modpacks gives you dedicated spaces to make any changes. It’s extremely easy to set up and only takes a few minutes.
Launch CurseForge.
Click Create Custom Profile under My Modpacks.

Enter a profile name, then continue by selecting the Minecraft version and the game version.

Once everything is set, click Create Profile in the bottom-right corner.

Wait for the profile to fully load all the required files.
Uploading the Mods
Just like when adding mods in the default launcher, you’ll need to access the mods folder. However, now it’s stored in your custom profile directory, which is easy to access.
In the My Modpacks section of the launcher, locate and select your custom profile.
Click the three vertical dots and select Open Folder from the options list.

In the newly opened window, open the mods folder.

Next, drag and drop the .jar files of your desired mods into this folder.
Then, return to the launcher and click Play next to the profile.
