How to Adjust Server Visibility in 7 Days to Die

Other Games·March 22, 2026·7 min read

When playing in the zombie-infested world of 7 Days to Die, the players around you can make all the difference in the experience. By playing with other survivors, more situations can arise that make the game more fun and challenging. However, not everyone may want random players joining their server, which is why server visibility options exist.

Changing Visibility

1. Visit the HolyHosting Server Panel and then log in.

2. Use the stop button to make sure the server is offline.

3. In the left menu, access the Customizations tab.

4. Here, locate the Server Visibility section.

5. Using the dropdown menu, select the desired visibility.

6. Once chosen, return to the main panel page and restart the server.

The server will now start using the visibility options you have chosen, which will work as soon as the server is online!

Understanding Visibility Options

7 Days to Die currently has three different visibility options to choose from. These are:

- Public: The server appears in the public server browser, allowing any player to join and play on the server.

- Unlisted: This prevents the server from appearing in the browser. When set to unlisted, players can only join through the server's IP and port.

- Friends Only: As the name suggests, this makes it so only friends can join the server. Since you cannot be friends with a server, it depends on the first player who connects through the server IP. Their friends can then join through the Steam Friends list.

In-Game Usage

Once the server has loaded, you can start 7 Days to Die and navigate to the "Join a Game" section. Here, depending on your chosen setting, you can search for your server or connect to an IP.

Regardless of what you choose, you will then start connecting to your server and be able to begin playing. Each of these visibility settings can be beneficial depending on how you want your server to operate.

Conclusion

After this, you now know how to change the server visibility and its effects in-game. All of these options can be beneficial in their own situations, especially when you want to adjust who can join your server.

Alternatively, if a server is friends-only or unlisted, only players who are already friends or who have been given the server's IP and port can join.

Due to the simple nature of the dropdown option, visibility can be changed at any time depending on your needs. With all this in mind, get ready with friends or other players and dive into the world of 7 Days to Die!
