When hosting a Conan Exiles server, you gain the ability to fully customize gameplay — from combat to building. There are many options to review and edit, most of which are accessible directly in-game. However, the same settings can also be managed through our user-friendly control panel for your convenience. This panel securely saves your edits so they’re never reset, making it an extremely useful feature. Whether you’re making changes while playing or editing options in the panel, not everyone knows how to do this — especially new server owners unfamiliar with each configuration. Because of that, we’ve created this HolyHosting tutorial to give you a better understanding of the available options and how to edit them on your Conan Exiles server.

Conan Exiles Server Settings
The best way to fully customize your Conan Exiles server is by editing the settings in-game. This requires admin privileges, which can be enabled by following our tutorial. Once your character has admin permissions, simply open the menu and select Server Settings. Then, choose a category on the left to start editing its respective options. Since there are so many settings, we’ll break down most of them below for clarity. You can also hover over options in-game to view their descriptions. Otherwise, continue reading to get started.
General Settings
The General category includes generic and important settings for your server:
Setting | Description |
Message of the Day | Sets the server’s daily message for players to see. |
Server Password | Sets a password for the entire server. |
Admin Password | Changes the password required for admin access. |
PvP Enabled | Toggles whether players can attack each other. |
Player Can Damage Own Structures | Controls if players can destroy their own buildings. |
PvP Blitz Enabled | Speeds up player progression for PvP. |
No Ownership | Removes ownership over chests, machines, and buildings. |
Maximum Nudity | Sets nudity level to full, partial, or none. |
Whitelist Only | Allows only whitelisted players to join. |
Allow Family Sharing Accounts | Enables players using shared Steam accounts to join. |
Conan Exiles Progression Multipliers
There are many multipliers to adjust, such as Player XP Rate or Damage, available across different categories. For these, it’s best to follow our dedicated guide to understand how each works. These configurations are crucial for gameplay balance, so be sure you understand them before making changes. For example, increasing the Player Damage multiplier makes everyone extremely powerful — not always ideal for every server.
Day/Night Cycle
This category controls everything about the day and night cycle, including speed and timing.
Setting | Description |
Day Cycle Speed | Multiplies the overall 24-hour day cycle speed. |
Daytime Speed | Adjusts the rate of daylight hours in-game. |
Nighttime Speed | Adjusts how long nighttime lasts. |
Dawn/Dusk Speed | Changes sunrise and sunset rates. |
Use Catch-Up Time | Enables the catch-up time mechanic for new players. |
Catch-Up Time | Sets how long new players can catch up after spawning. |
Building
Building settings control decay rates, structure restrictions, and more.
Setting | Description |
Server Creative Mode | Determines if Creative Mode is allowed for everyone or admins only. |
Allow Building Anywhere | Lets players build anywhere, even in restricted areas. |
Disable Building During PvP Raid Time | Prevents building during raid hours. |
Disable Building Abandonment | Removes building decay over time. |
Disable Thrall Decay | Enables or disables thrall decay. |
Chat
Messaging on your server is managed under the Chat settings, including global chat limitations.
Setting | Description |
Chat Local Radius | Sets the local chat radius in centimeters. |
Max Message Length | Determines maximum character length for messages. |
Global Chat Enabled | Toggles whether global chat is allowed. |
Regional Access
Sometimes you may want to restrict which regions can join your server — for instance, allowing only European players. You can block regions by checking options in the Regional Access Control menu. Alternatively, you can use country codes in the text box to block players from specific countries. Either method allows for precise regional control.
Purge
The Purge category manages all purge-related events, including duration and difficulty.
Setting | Description |
Enable Purge | Toggles whether purge events are allowed. |
Purge Level | Sets the difficulty level of purges. |
Purges Per Day | Controls how many purges occur per real-world day. |
Restrict Purge Time | Limits purges to specific time windows. |
Purge Preparation Time | Sets the time interval between purge warnings and start. |
Purge Duration | Determines maximum purge duration. |
Minimum Online Players | Sets the minimum number of players required for a purge to begin. |
Allow Building | Determines if building is allowed during purges. |
Purge Meter Activation Value | Defines how much player or clan activity is needed to trigger a purge. |
Purge Meter Update Interval | Sets how often the purge meter updates. |
Panel Options
Besides editing settings in-game, you can modify them in the ServerSettings.ini file. This file includes everything we’ve covered — from General to Chat options. However, each setting’s internal name differs from its in-game label, so you might want to review the Server Configuration Wiki for reference.
Follow these steps to edit the file through our simplified control panel:
Go to your HolyHosting panel and click Configuration Files on the top left.
Make sure you’re using the correct Server Profile.
Find and select ServerSettings.ini from the list.
Make your desired edits and click Save at the top.
Return to the main panel and restart the server to apply the changes.
ServerSettings.ini Details
As mentioned, this file contains nearly all server settings — General, Multipliers, Purge, and more. However, certain values like ServerName and AdminPassword aren’t controlled here.If you want to change those, check the next section.
Changes made in-game or through the panel will both be saved and applied here. This is important to note, as admins can modify server passwords or other settings without your knowledge, potentially causing conflicts.
Customizations
Another place to make adjustments is the Customizations section of your control panel. This area contains essential information like the default map, admin password, and other options.
To edit them:
Open your server panel and click Customizations on the left.
Find the settings you want and modify them as needed.
Return to the main panel and restart your server.
Common Issues
Settings Don’t Save
If in-game settings aren’t saving, make sure to restart your server from the panel. This is required to write your changes to the ServerSettings.ini file. In some cases, options won’t save because they are panel-only settings — try editing them manually. You can also stop the server before making edits to ensure proper saving.
Settings Don’t Apply
If settings don’t apply in-game, there might be a small conflict. This can happen if you edit ServerName or other background options manually in ServerSettings.ini.These should be modified under Customizations instead. If other options aren’t applying, verify that your edits are valid and the file format is intact, then restart the server.
