Admin Panel – Plugin for Rust

Other Games·March 22, 2026·17 min read

Hosting a dedicated Rust server generally involves the use of uMod plugins, which allow owners to add custom features. Some of these include admin privileges, moderation tools, and other useful utilities. The Admin Panel plugin is one of the most popular plugins for Rust, as it provides a comprehensive set of tools for server administrators.

How to Download:

1. Access the Admin Panel plugin on the uMod website.

2. On the right side of the page, press the Download button.

6. Wait for it to reach 100% and return to the main panel to Restart the server.

7. Once it has finished loading, join to confirm everything is working.

Getting Started:

When joining the server, you may not notice anything immediately. This is likely because you are not an administrator, so make sure to set up your account as one.

Afterward, you will want to use Oxide commands to add the following permission: `adminpanel.allowed`. This grants you the ability to see and use the admin panel, which is located near the top right of your screen.

How to Install Plugins:

Unfortunately, the main plugin does not come with custom features for you to easily get started. This must be done manually, meaning you need to install other plugins for the buttons to appear in-game.

1. Admin Radar: Allows you to easily detect cheaters by adding player locations, health, distance, and other important information to your screen.

2. Godmode: Allows you to be in god mode, being invulnerable to player attacks, environmental damage, or creatures.

3. Vanish: Makes you invisible to other players and in-game entities.

4. Player Administration: Allows you to fully manage your player base.

How to Use the Admin Panel:

When you have installed other plugins, you will notice more buttons available in the upper right corner of your game screen. Simply click on one of them to start the functionality.

Using Player Administration as an example, selecting this option from your in-game list opens a new menu. In this area, you can ban anyone, whether they are online or offline, and manage their permissions.

Other plugins either make more buttons appear or simply execute a command from it. Make sure to assign each plugin's permissions to your account, as this is necessary to view and use them in-game.

Permissions:

These permissions will cover the main plugin and its available plugins. It is recommended to add all of these to your account through Oxide commands. This requires you to enter the following in the server console:

Permissions:

- `adminpanel.autotoggle.admin`: Automatically toggles the panel on or off regardless of whether you are added or removed from the admin group.

- `adminpanel.allowed`: Allows viewing and using the admin panel.

- `adminradar.allowed`: Used to enable Admin Radar in the panel.

- `godmode.toggle`: Used to enable God Mode in the panel.

- `vanish.allow`: Used to enable Vanish in the panel.

- `playeradministration.access.show`: Used to enable Player Administration in the panel.

**Chat

Commands:**

As suggested in the previous sections, there are some chat commands from the Admin Panel available to use. These are useful when making changes to your permissions, teleportation, and other settings.

Chat Commands:

- `/adminpanel hide`: Hides the admin panel from view in-game.

- `/adminpanel show`: Refreshes and displays the admin panel.

- `/adminpanel settp`: Sets your custom teleportation location from your character's position.

- `/adminpanel settp all`: Sets the teleportation location for all administrators.

- `/adminpanel removetp`: Removes your custom teleportation.

Configuration:

If you want to make changes to the button styles, then you need to edit the plugin's configuration file. This is accessible directly from the FTP panel, which has a built-in file editor.

1. Head to the FTP File Access area from your main server panel.

2. Log in and enter the following directory: `…/oxide/config`.

3. Locate the `AdminPanel.json` file and click "Edit" on the far right of it.

4. Continue making the desired changes, then click "Save" at the top.

5. Return to the main panel and Restart the server to apply the edits.

Common Issues:

1. Admin Panel Not Working:

In some cases, the plugin will not work correctly. This is likely because uMod is disabled or due to missing permissions. Make sure uMod Support is checked in Customizations and that you have the correct permissions assigned to your account.

2. Cannot See Other Buttons:

Remember that you need to install the other plugins for the buttons to appear in-game. This is an absolute requirement for their features to work properly. However, you also need to make sure you have the correct permissions for each plugin.
